With unemployment now at 10.2% many people are considering a whole new way to take control of their future:  own their own business.  Is this just insanity or incredibly smart?

Today we’re going to find out with the help of our girlfriend Robin Smith.  For the past 8 years Robin has been part of The Entrepreneur’s Source, helping people move towards financial self-sufficiency by exploring business ownership in a safe environment.

Joy has had plenty to worry about.

The first time Joy died she was 15 years old.  After flying off a cliff on a motorbike, she was declared dead on the operating table. 

At 24 years old she was hit by a drunk driver, which resulted in a brain injury.  Doctors said she would be dead or vegetative before age 30. 

At 34, Joy went from a leader in Australia’s computer support industry to a single mom on welfare. 

Then, five years ago she was suddenly stranded for a year in Mexico with no money and no ability to speak Spanish, when her visa was canceled.

And you thought you had tough times!

Today at 3pm on today’s “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” radio show we’re talking with Joy, now a life transformation specialist who teaches by example how to turn tragedy into triumph.  Her book “No Worries, Mate!” really got our attention because more than ever it’s easy to worry in today’s times.  (And we really hate that because it kills the oxytocin!)

Joy’s thoughts about “only 2 things you can worry about” are worth the entire 30 minutes!

October is almost over and you know what that means - - Halloween!

Each week “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” is broadcast from Richmond, VA - - a city steeped in history from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War and beyond.  Within a few miles from the radio station Patrick Henry declared “Give me liberty or give me death!” and Abraham Lincoln cried when he saw how much the city was devastated from the battle that ended the Civil War.

And it seems with such strife comes unexplained, ghostly activity.

Pamela Kinney, author of “Haunted Richmond, VA”, knows things about Richmond that we don’t want to know - - and yet we do!  On our latest “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” radio show that last part won out!

Mary's First Book Signing Today at 1 pm!

We're excited that today is Mary's first book signing today for her brand new book "Live Like Your Nail Color, Even If You Have Naked Nails!"  It starts at 1 pm at Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts in the Richmond, VA area.

Simple Pleasures Books & Gifts is a women’s bookstore independently owned by a Richmond area mom, Brenda Seward, and her 3 daughters April, Theresa, and Stacey.  In support of local businesses, Mary thought it was the perfect place for her first signing.

In fact, Brenda wrote the first review on Mary's new book for V Magazine for Women.  It was just posted on Thursday.  Mary was tickled - see what she said!

Mary will be doing more than signing book (you deserve more than that for making the trip!).  She'll be sharing some fun and funny things directly from the book and how they came about starting shortly after 1 pm. Susie will be there, too, adding her stories about how my book came about. 

Kinda like "Inside the Actor's Studio" but instead "Inside the Author's Keyboard."  LOL!
