No worries going to all that trouble.  Karen Burns has done for all of us and playfully captured it in her new book “The Amazing Adventures of Working Girl:  Real Life Career Advice You Can Actually Use.”

We asked Karen about her about her favorite jobs, her worst jobs, and what advice she has for today’s job hunter.

We figure a woman who has dug ditches in communist Czechoslovakia, modeled plus-size bustiers in Paris, typed the same letter 535 times, taught French generals how to lisp (not on purpose), and got paid $50 an hour just for being American, might have a tip or two about how to find a job where you live, too!

Live from the Retail Marketing Expo!

 

 

 

Last Tuesday we recorded a live session of the “Girlfriend We Gotta Talk!” radio show at the Retail Marketing Expo at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.  The Expo had over a 1000 attendees and was a great place to meet face-to-face with the media, advertising, and technology in the Richmond region; discover marketing products and services, and attend powerful education sessions. 

 

In our directors’ chairs in front of a live audience, we got to sit down with Nancy Thomas, President of the Retail Merchants Association about the “Think. Shop. Buy.  Local” campaign.  Mary even came up with what LOCAL really stands for.  You gotta hear it!
