W As we continue our month of celebrating moms we talked with Erin Bried, Self magazine senior staff writer and author of “How to Sew a Button: And Other Nifty Things Your Grandmother Knew.” For the book, Erin interviewed 10 grandmothers, all of whom lived during The Great Depression, to find out how they made due, helped others, and entertained with very little. We want to hear about some of the more than 100 essential how-to’s she’s packed in her book to help us save money, simply life, and still have fun.
hen was the last time you roasted a chicken, hemmed a pair of pants, or planted a vegetable garden? For some of us the answer is never. We live in an age of convenience or were never taught such things. But with tougher economic times and the desire to live more simply, knowing such things could be more than handy!
