Today is the last day of my week long writing retreat to work on my new book "Live Like Your Nail Color - Even If You Have Naked Nails!"that's due out this fall.
Thanks for all the support and encouragement, especially for taking my Fingers vs Toes, Polished vs Naked Nails Survey. Over 145 women thus far have given me their input! I'll have it up for a few more days so please join in!
I wanted to share with you a bit from the introductory chapter on being proud of your naked nails.
Take a quick read and post a comment to let me know what you think. As they say, there's more where that came from!
Happy weekend,
From "Live Like Your Nail Color - Even If You Have Naked Nails!"...
It happens almost every time. As I’m chatting with people before I speak to a group, at least one woman will come up to introduce herself and before I can say a word she starts apologizing. All of a sudden we’re in an invisible confessional and she can barely look me in the eye as she blurts out that she’s not wearing any polish at all. Gasp! She has naked nails! She goes on to tell me that her hands are ugly or her finger nails are too short and stubby for polish. My response:
Hear ye! Hear ye! May it be proclaimed today in the presence of Almighty God, that no women anywhere need be ashamed of her naked nails. Indeed, be proud of your naked nails. They mean you are willing to be your true, authentic self and show it to the world.
Ok, so I really don’t strike a post, unravel an fake scroll and make a proclamation. But I do take her hand, look at her nails and say “Be proud of your naked nails!”
These are the nails God gave you. They protect the tips of your fingers which help you perform a zillion things a day - from washing your face to typing on your keyboard to putting food in your mouth. They help you have better sensitivity by providing your fingertips something to push against. And, perhaps one of the most underrated things of all, they help you pick up the back of your earring that keeps falling off, dagnabit, and put it back on!
So, never be ashamed of being naked. Or nekkid. Both are valid options. The difference is that naked means you don’t have anything on. While nekkid means you don’t have anything on and you’re up to something (hopefully something good, really good!). Only you can decide if you have naked nails or nekkid nails. And personal experience has shown me that you can go from naked to nekkid in a nano second!

The take-a-week-off approach is great, isn't it? Did that @ Christmas, and managed to get to completion after months of "I really need to get started on this...soon." Congrats, o Bodacious One!

I just love that you took a week off to get your book started. I did that nearly 2 years ago, and it made all the difference to the book getting written. I accomplished a great deal that week, more than I would have believed. It sounds like you have gotten a lot done too. Congrats!
